AR Rahman forays into acting debut

Oscar awardee Music wizard AR Rahman celebrated for his timeless tunes in chartbuster songs in his three-decade career as music composer is makes his acting debut.

As per latest reports, the Oscar winning composer features in Prabhudeva starrer upcoming comedy film Moonwalk.
Though Rahman earlier appeared in a handful of cameos in songs, he has never played a full length character so far. Now, he has come under the arclights playing the character of a director named AR Rahman in this film, helmed by Manoj
NS and bankrolled by Behindwoods productions. 
Rahman will be seen as an angry young director in this film which also marks another first for him because he has rendered all five songs in the album. This is the first time in his career that the entire soundtrack has his unified music voice. 

When the director Manoj approached Rahman with the role, he immediately agreed to showcase his mettle in acting and signed the dotted line. This is for the first time that Prabhudeva and Rahman are into collaboration. They have already shot together one song which has turned out very well. 
AR Rahman is said to have had a good time while on shoot for his scenes as the entire team was much happy seeing him perform as an actor. While Prabhudeva will be portraying the role of a choreographer, Rahman will be his film director.
The ensemble cast also features Aju Varghese, Arjun Ashokan, Satz, Sushmitha, Nishma, Swaminathan, Redin Kingsley, Rajendran, Deepa Akka, Santhosh Jacob and Ramkumar. Moonwalk releases in theatres in May 2026.
