Akshay and Saif starrer Haiwaan inks major deal with Sony Pictures

The much-anticipated thriller Haiwaan featuring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan under veteran filmmaker Priyadarshan’s directorial, has entered into a significant digital and satellite broadcasting agreement with Sony Pictures Networks India. The deal underscores growing industry confidence in the project expected to be one of the most talked-about films of 2026.

Notably Haiwaan marks the reunification of Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan on the big screen after nearly two decades, igniting substantial excitement among fans. The pair, who last featured together in the 2008 film Tashan, are fronting this edge-of-the-seat thriller that ensures fresh narrative and high production values under Priyadarshan’s directorial.
The Sony Pictures Networks deal covers both digital streaming and satellite television rights, positioning Haiwaan for broad nationwide visibility once its theatrical run concludes. Industry insiders say the arrangement is expected to be among the largest such pre-theatrical rights contracts for a Hindi film in 2026.

Filming for Haiwaan has wrapped, with the production team sharing back-stage peeks that have amplified anticipation. The film also features Shriya Pilgaonkar and Saiyami Kher in key roles, adding to the ensemble appeal.
Saiyami Kher has called that working on the film as “a surreal experience,” expressing her excitement at collaborating with Priyadarshan and the leading stars. Earlier to this, the film was shot across locations including Kochi and Mumbai, with reports noting the film’s
large-scale action sequences, including an extended multi-night chase scene shot near Churchgate and CSMT in South Mumbai.
In addition to its headline cast, Haiwaan is reported to include several seasoned performers in supporting roles, contributing to its robust ensemble.
Creative Team and Production Houses
The film is produced jointly by KVN Productions and Thespian Films, with Venkat K Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn onboard as producers. Priyadarshan’s involvement has been a major draw, with the director acknowledged for his work across genres and earlier hits that blend storytelling with commercial appeal.
Haiwaan maintains a thriller tone, and though plot details are being kept under wraps, reports suggest it may be inspired by or loosely adapted from classic thriller narratives, merging suspenseful storytelling with compelling character arcs.

While an official theatrical release date has not yet been announced, Haiwaan is widely expected to hit the cinema halls in
mid-to-late 2026. With Sony Pictures Networks India onboard for
post-theatrical distribution, the film’s reach is set to expand significantly across television and digital platforms.
With star power, a respected director, and a premium broadcasting deal secured ahead of release, Haiwaan is poised to be a major box office and streaming success, reinforcing the trend of strategic pre-release partnerships in Bollywood.
