A close source reveals creative differences has prompted star Ranveer Singh to re-evaluate his project choices.
He reportedly left
Don 3 and Rakshas due to disagreements with directors/producers regarding the script, direction, or, in the case of Don 3, perceived unprofessionalism.
Reports suggest he felt the vigilante-superhero genre (specifically Anniyan
re-emake and Shaktimaan) was emerging overexposed and wanted to pivot.
Following the unprecedented success of Dhurandhar, reports indicate he is taking a more cautious approach to project selection, favoring long-term impact over immediate, large-scale signings. Other reports suggested a desire to slow down his hectic schedule to spend time with his family.
He amicably parted ways.with the director of Rakshas.
Reports also indicate that these moves have led to significant controversy, particularly regarding a 40-crore compensation demand from Don 3 producers, and have caused a stir regarding his “unprofessional” handling of projects.
The latest casualty is the Hindi remake of the Tamil blockbuster Anniyan. This marks the fourth project associated with Ranveer to be shelved, following Rakshasa, Shaktimaan, and Don 3.
Anniyan released in 2005 shattered
box-office records to emerge as one of the most successful Tamil films of its time.
Reportedly, director
S. Shankar was initially reluctant to revisit the film, especially since its dubbed Hindi and Telugu versions had already enjoyed wide popularity.
However, Ranveer’s enthusiasm reportedly convinced Shankar to consider a Hindi adaptation. The two were said to have agreed to collaborate, largely at the actor’s insistence.
Now, the project has been quietly shelved, with sources suggesting that Ranveer has reconsidered the move. The actor reportedly feels that the vigilante
superhero template has been overexposed in recent years and in that assessment, he may not be entirely off the mark.
