Drishyam 3 director Jeethu Joseph prefers small films unlike crore clubs

In a media interaction Drishyam 3 director Jeethu Joseph has indicated that he prefers to focus on the story and organic approach over chasing “crore clubs” or box office numbers. He emphasizes that his focus is always on whether he likes the story itself, rather than whether it will be a big or small film.
Regarding Drishyam 3, he stated it is an “organic approach” focusing on the characters’ lives rather than trying to make a bigger hit than the earlier, more successful part.
The director also went on to mention that his primary goal is to ensure the producer doesn’t lose money and to create a good film, rather than setting records.

Against formulaic blockbusters, he expressed concern that the industry is becoming obsessed with 100/200 crore clubs, which he believes can lead to ignoring quality, stating, and he isn’t into crore clubs and all.

Meanwhile Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph have confirmed that Drishyam 3 is set for a worldwide theatrical release on April 2, 2026.
The film wrapped its shooting phase in early December 2025 and currently is in the post-production stage.

Notably, Drishyam 3 is touted as the final installment in the saga, with the plot expected to pick up about 4.5 years after the events of Drishyam 2. The original team is back, with Jeethu Joseph directing and Mohanlal reprising his iconic role as Georgekutty. The primary cast, including Meena (Rani), Ansiba Hassan (Anju), and Esther Anil (Anu), will return to their roles.
Even ahead of its release the film has generated massive buzz, with reports indicating it has achieved the highest pre-release business for a Malayalam film to date.
The Hindi version featuring Ajay Devgn, is also in development but will release later, on October 2, 2026, allowing the Malayalam original to hit theaters first. 

Now fans can expect another high-stakes thriller, with early reports suggesting the plot will focus on Georgekutty protecting his family from new, more organized threats. 

Remarkably, Mohanlal’s movie Drishyam is one of the most popular Malayalam thrillers which was a blockbuster success. Fans across the country are eagerly awaiting for the third instalment in April.
