Suryakumar credits fielding coach T Dilip
as “unsung hero” behind semi-final victory
Following India’s T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final win against England, captain
Suryakumar Yadav credited fielding coach T. Dilip as the “unsung hero” behind the victory.
Suryakumar highlighted the team’s exceptional fielding and tactical preparation, specifically crediting T. Dilip for the team’s high standards in the field, which made the difference in the seven-run win.
India scored 253/7 (the highest T20 WC knockout total) and restricted England to 246/7, with Sanju Samson (89 off 42) also being a major contributor.
Suryakumar noted that the team “responded well” to the fielding drills, with players going “the extra yard”.
All said the drop by Harry Brook (Sanju Samson) and later dismissals of key batters Jacks and Bethell was the decisive turning point.
Otherwise it was England’s victory.
