A rare picture of young Amitabh Bachchan with his revered parents
Harivansh Rai Bachchan (a renowned Hindi poet, acknowledged for Madhushala) and Teji Bachchan (a graceful social activist/theatre artist), provided a foundation of literature, art, and values. They represent a blend of intellectual and artistic upbringing, often referred to as a distinguished or illustrious family lineage.
Harivansh Rai Bachchan was a legendary poet of the Nayi Kavita movement, and used “Bachchan” as a pen name, although his surname was Srivastava.
Teji Bachchan was a Punjabi Sikh by birth and was a teacher of psychology in Lahore before marrying Harivansh Rai in 1941.
Amitabh often calls his mother as his pillar of strength and his father as his guide, creating a nurturing and creative home atmosphere.
The family is often extolled as the Bachchan clan or a dynasty of poets and actors, with Teji often described as the “pillar” of the home and Harivansh as the “poet-father”.
Indisputably Amitabh Bachchan till today has remained unparalled. Even at his present age he is the most sought after in commercials.
