MNS Chief Raj Thackeray threatens railway administration of bringing UP bound trains to grinding halt

Conforming to recent reports,
Raj Thackeray’s Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has threatened to halt trains bound for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar if their demands regarding local train services in Maharashtra are not met.

MNS leaders have given a 15 to 20-day ultimatum to the railway administration to resume the Dadar-Ratnagiri passenger train, moved to Diva station, claiming this change causes inconvenience to Konkan residents.

According to MNS leaders if the demand to restore the train to its original route is not met, they will “stop Uttar Pradesh and Bihar bound trains”.
The threat is part of a series of regional identity protests ahead of local elections, with MNS accusing the railways of neglecting local commuter needs while prioritizing long-distance trains to other states.
However, Railway officials have indicated that running the passenger train from Dadar causes significant delays to local suburban trains, which is why it was moved to Diva, where 92 trains (up/down) are now operating for the Konkan region.

This follows earlier comments in January 2026 where Raj Thackeray threatened to “kick out” migrants from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, linking the issue to the “imposition” of Hindi and the protection of Marathi identity in Maharashtra.
