Bombay HC sues Ajay Devgn for non-payment of fees for remake of “Bhola”

Following a complaint filed by Dream Warrior Pictures, Producers of tamil film “Kaithi”, the Bombay High Court have sued Ajay Devgn’s production banner Ajay Devgn Ffilms LLP and Reliance Entertainment Studios for non-payment of dues and violation of remake rights for the Hindi adaptation, Bholaa. The producers claim a breach of contract regarding the agreed assignment fees and have sought an injunction against the movie’s distribution.

The plaintiffs claim that though a tripartite agreement was made for the remake rights, they only received
₹1 crore + GST in April 2022 out of the total promised amount. They allege that substantial payments for the second and third installments, due in 2023, were never received.

Dream Warrior Pictures requested an injunction from the Bombay High Court to stop the exploitation and streaming of Bholaa. They are demanding payment of ₹4 crore plus interest.

The Bombay High Court has heard arguments concerning the jurisdiction of the case and has reserved its decision, say Live Law and this Instagram post.
Bholaa produced by Ajay Devgn, was released on March 30, 2023, as an official remake of the 2019 Tamil hit Kaithi.
