Controversy erupts over Dhurandharagainst disrespect towards “Gurbani”

Members of minority committee has filed a police complaint (FIR) in Mumbai against the makers of Dhurandhar 2 The Revenge (also referred to as Dhurandhar) and actor Ranveer Singh for allegedly disrespecting Gurbani.

The controversy stems from a scene where a character reportedly smokes while reciting sacred verses, sparking outrage over hurt religious sentiments, demanding the scene’s removal and a public apology.

The complaint alleges that the film shows a character smoking while quoting Gurbani during a conversation with another character, which is deemed sacrilegious by the Sikh community.

Another report indicates that a poster featuring a character wearing Sikh religious symbols (turban, kada) while smoking sparked initial outrage.
Ll The complaint is directed at the makers of the movie and actor Ranveer Singh.

Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Gurjyot Singh Keer and other community members have demanded the immediate removal of the scene and a public apology from the filmmakers.

The controversy has ignited a broader discussion regarding religious sensitivity and creative freedom in Bollywood.
