Modern music has become “soulless”says ‘Padma” winner Alka Yagnik

Following her Padma Bhushan honour, legendary singer Alka Yagnik voiced that modern music has emerged “soulless,” noting that contemporary songs are often characterized by loud beats and sound gimmicks.
She further described the current musical landscape with the following sentiments and phrases:

“Missing Soul”- she feels that “somewhere, the soul in songs has gone missing”.She also stated that songs today are often forgotten quickly, comparing them to “fast food” that one dances to, but does not remember long-term.
She goes on to mention there is a lot of “substandard work and many8 substandard artistes” currently popular, emphasizing a loss of lyrical and musical quality.
She further went on to remar that the “poetic lyrics” of the past have been displaced by sound effects.

Meanwhile Alka yagnik indicated that while technical advancement is good, the current trends “need to be brought back” to having more substance and intensity.
