It’s learned from recent reports that in late 2025 and early 2026, filmmaker Mohit Suri called the unprecedented success of his romantic musical Saiyaara released in 2025 was a rare, industry-wide celebrated moment that transformed the industry’s attitude towards him.
The filmmaker noted that even competitors and producers who earlier never believed in him later claimed the film’s incredible victory as “their win”.
The film, featuring newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, turned out to be a massive blockbuster, shattering box office records with a ₹550 crore+ lifetime collection, making it the highest-grossing romantic movie in Hindi cinema.
The film’s success was particularly special because it relied on organic buzz, “heart-touching music,” and fresh talent rather than conventional, loud promotions.
Trade experts, however called the film’s success a “wonder hit,” a “wake-up call for the industry,” and a “clutter-breaker” in a year dominated by big-budget, star-driven movies.
Suri went on to state that he remembers telling his wife… it’s not just a box office hit. It’s a hit that the whole industry is celebrating”.
