Director Priyadarshan has come down heavily on false reports and has shut down rumours that film featuring Akshay Kumar, was originally planned as a sequel to Bhool Bhulaiyaa.. He clarified that Booth Bangla is a completely different, independent “fantasy” project and not a retooled older script. T-Series also confirmed no such script was ever received.
Priyadarshan highlighted that Bhool Bhulaiyaa was a psychological thriller, while Booth Bangla is a “fantasy,” regardless both being comedy-horror film.

The film is scheduled to release on April 10, 2026, marking the reunion of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan.
Reports indicate that any attempt to leverage the Bhool Bhulaiyaa
brand would result in legal action, emphasizing the distinction between the two projects.
