Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios in troubleTrimurti Films sues studios for copyright infringement

Trimurti Films has sued Aditya Dhar’s B62 Studios for copyright infringement, alleging unauthorized use of the iconic song “Oye Oye” (Tirchi Topiwale) from the 1989 film Tridev in the movie Dhurandhar 2. The lawsuit, centered on unlawful reproduction, seeks an injunction against the song’s use in theaters and streaming, along with compensation.

The track is “Rang De Lal” (commonly known as “Oye Oye” or “Tirchi Topiwale”), originally featuring in Tridev, owned by Trimurti Films.
Trimurti alleges that Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar 2 used the song or a “substantially similar” version without obtaining the necessary licenses.

A lawsuit has been filed, aiming to halt the song’s use across all platforms, including promotional materials, and seeking damages for commercial exploitation.
Dhurandhar 2 is a successful film fearuring Ranveer Singh, and this legal action poses potential issues for its ongoing commercial run and digital release.

This legal development highlights the strict enforcement of music rights in the Indian film industry, where unauthorized remakes or re-creations are subject to legal scrutiny and potential injunctive
