Moti Sagar, son of legendary Ramayan creator Ramanand Sagar, has supported Ranbir Kapoor’s casting as Lord Ram in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming Ramayana film, urging that it should not be compared to the 1987 TV show.
He termed the film’s team “performers” and dismissed comparisons due to format differences.
Moti Sagar is all praise for Ranbir. Calls him a “class actor” with immense depth, stating, he expects something very good from ‘Ramayana’ as he (Ranbir) is one of the best actors of today.
He went on to highlight that the 1987 show had 78 episodes to explore in detail, whereas a 3-4 hour film is a different medium.
Though acknowledging the criticism of the teaser, he advised waiting for the full film to pass judgment.
He stated that the original series was a unique cultural phenomenon for its time and that new adaptations should be viewed independently.
