Former BJP Minister Babul Supriyo shares PM Modi’s take on his singing

According to recent reports, former BJP Union Minister Babul Supriyo recalled that his singing career was discouraged amidst his tenure in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that Prime Minister felt his singing could damage the image of the government.

According to Supriyo after becoming a minister, he was advised against performing, which forced his music career to take a backseat.
This revelation was made by Supriyo after he left the BJP to join the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) in 2021, where he stated that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee encouraged him to return to music, telling him, “Babul, there is no tension, you sing”.

While he now states he was discouraged, in 2014, when first inducted into the ministry, Supriyo had earlier mentioned that “Modiji himself inspired him to carry on with his singing” and encouraged him to balance both responsibilities.

Supriyo remarked that the period of restriction under the BJP actually strengthened his passion for music, leaving him in the “best form” of his career, and he has now returned to full-time singing alongside his political duties in the TMC.

Meanwhile, it’s a shift in his perception of PM Modi’s attitude toward his musical career compared to his initial entry into the ministry in 2014.
