CBI Special Court’s final verdict over Jiah Khan suicide case on April 28
A special CBI court gears up to deliver the final verdict in Jiah Khan’s suicide case on April 28 (Friday) following almost a decade-long wait.
In this case, Actor Sooraj Pancholi, Aditya Pancholi’s son, was accused of abetment to suicide. Sooraj was also dating Jiah.
The actor was arrested by the police after a suicide letter purportedly written by Jiah was found.
As per Bar and Bench, special judge AS Sayyad, he had completed hearing the final arguments on the case on April 20 after which he reserved the verdict. It will be announced on Friday, 28 April.
A news report claims that a member of the Pancholi family had revealed that everyone including Sooraj Pancholi is ‘anxious’ but also ‘positive’ on the verdict.
Earlier this month, Sooraj denied being responsible for his late partner Jiah Khan’s suicide and claimed that their relationship was good throughout the time they were together.
The actor answered 558 questions that a special court had put to him in connection with Jiah’s suicide, which he is accused of abetting.
Reportedly, Jia was found hanging in her room by her mother Rabiya Khan at their Mumbai residence on June 3, 2013.
The actor left behind a suicide note blaming Sooraj Pancholi for the extreme step.
There has been repeated claim by Jia’s mother Rabiya Khan that Pancholi had murdered her daughter. However, Sooraj was released on bail.
After his bail, Jiah’s mother moved the Bombay High Court and sought a transfer of the probe to the CBI.
