Kashmir Files director Vivek Agnihotri boycotts Filmfare Awards Film bagged 7 nominations

Vivek Agnihotri boycotts Filmfare Awards event even after his directorial ‘Kashmir Files’ bagged 7 nominations.
He goes on to term the Filmfare Awards ‘corrupt, unethical & sycophant Bollywood establishment’.

He also claimed that a “parallel Hindi film industry” was emerging and that he was not the only one upset with Filmfare.

For the unversed filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri delivered the biggest blockbuster of 2022 with ‘The Kashmir Files’ and after earning widespread recognition across the globe, the film has now bagged seven nominations at the Filmfare Awards 2023.

He put up a lengthy tweet claiming that the award show treats directors, writers and other crew members of a film as inferiors and that it only gives importance to the actors starring in the films.

On Thursday, taking to his twitter handle Agnihotri he penned a long note calling out Filmfare for not not giving due recognition to directors and crew members.

He called the award show corrupt and unethical and stated, and refused to be part of any oppressive and corrupt system or awards which treats writers, directors and other HODs & crew members of a film inferior to and/or as slaves to stars.

Agnihotri further tweeted, “As per Filmfare, other than the stars, nobody has a face. Nobody matters. That’s why, in the sycophant and unethical world of Filmfare, Master Directors like Sanjay Bhansali or Sooraj Barjatya have no faces. Sanjay Bhansali looks like Alia Bhatt, Sooraj like Sr.Bachchan
and Annes Bazmi like Karthik Aryan. It’s not that a filmmaker’s dignity comes from Filmfare Awards but this humiliating system must be put to an end he concluded.

Adding further he went on to mention that as his protest and dissent against a corrupt, unethical and sycophant establishment of Bollywood, he decides to not accept such awards.
