Aditya Chopra releases Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ in the International Market
It is learnt that YRF honcho Aditya Chopra gears up to release Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jawan’ in the international market
The last time when Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan
forgathered, they scripted history with ‘Pathaan,” which crossed over 1000 crore at the box office. The magic of ‘Pathaan’ is still not over; the film is all set to release in Bangladesh, and it will be the first Indian film to release there since 1971.
But this time around reports revealed that Aditya Chopra and Shah Rukh Khan are foregathering to give ‘Jawan’ the most voluminous international release possible for an Indian film.
A couple of months back, it was rumoured that Aditya Chopra’s YRF had offered to release ‘Jawan’ as a thank-you gesture for ‘Pathaan’s 1000 crore plus box office success. But there was no word of confirmation on it till now, but on Sunday, Yash Raj Films took to Twitter to announce that they would release ‘Jawan’ in the international market.
This comes as a very strategic move given that YRF had given ‘Pathaan’ the widest possible release for a Hindi film. ‘Pathaan’ was released on over 2500 screens across 100 countries outside of India, while the number of screens in India was 5500. It would be interesting to see how far ‘Jawan’ goes.
‘Jawan’, which until now was scheduled for 2 June release will now hit the theatres on September 7 as the team needed more time to complete the VFX and other work on the film. This change in the date of its release has shaken the entire industry, with most films also announcing a shuffle of dates.
