Following Shehnaaz Gill’s ban by the Punjabi Film Industry, now Sonam Bajwa feels she is being sidelined. Producers would remove her from a film even without letting her know about it. She reveals her horrific experience in the Punjabi Film Industry.

Shehnaaz Gill earned recognition in the 8 industry following her stint in Bigg Boss 13. As of today she is part of big Bollywood films, including Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and 100% alongside John Abraham, Nora Fatehi and Riteish Deshmukh.

Although a Punjab based actress, but the Punjab originally hails from Punjab and recently revealed the regional industry is sidelining her and does not invite her to premiere of her own film. Now, Sonam Bajwa is calling them out and sharing how she went through a similar experience.

For the unversed, Sonam began her showbiz journey with the 2013 Punjabi film, Best Of Luck.

Sonam is predominantly a part of many films from the regional industry, along with a few roles in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu films. She won the ‘Best Actress’ award at PTC Punjabi Film Awards for her excellent work in Ardab Mutiyaran in 2020.

In an her recent media interaction Sonam Bajwa recalled facing the worst being sidelined by the Punjabi industry and reacted to the claims made by Shehnaaz Gill saying in the industry, when she was shunned and big and successful celebs were given importance, to be honest, it did not affect her much as she had faced the worse than this. It was her experience that the makers would remove her from a film and not even let her know, she has been through such times, but it hasn’t impacted her.

Amidst the conversation, Sonam revealed she faced bias because of not being ‘gori chitti’ as per the unrealistic beauty standards adding that when she was growing up as a kid, she was bullied for her skin colour because as a Punjabi, she was not (Gori chitti) fair enough.
A few of her relatives never even invited her to their house ever.
She has never seen their houses while growing up. But when she started flourishing in her career, they called her to their house all the time, but unfortunately, she lost connection and respect. So this is life everyone respects successful people in industry or society.

Sonam Bajwa, however, pledges to be the change and not become like them. More power to her!
