It is reliably learnt that many of the technicians and crew members associated with directors Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao claim that they have not been remunerated for their work on the upcoming film Yaariyaan 2. Sumitkumar Mishra, technician associated with the couple has lodged a complaint with the Naigaon Police Station who confirm having received the complaint that most of the technicians have not been remunerated for over a year adding that the complainant has alleged that the director duo are avoiding talking about Payment due to the technicians and crew members.
Sources reveal that the filmmakers have also not paid locals at a Versova village whose boats they hired for the shoot. According to Raju Kathin, one of the fishermen, 12 to 13 people are awaiting payments.
According to fisherman Raju Kathin, the filmmakers rented four of their boats and used 13 people for their shoot. When they asked for money, they denied even meeting them. The filmmakers owe them lakhs of rupees at this point. The fisherman are now waiting for the man who connected them to Sapru and Rao. Once that happens, they (fishermen) will register a complaint with the Versova Police.
Meanwhile, according to Naigaon police, the matter is a civil issue, which means it will be dealt with by the courts. An official from Naigaon Police Station state that did try to contact Sapru and Rao, but they did not respond to any calls or messages and that they have summoned them to be present at their police station on June 5. today, Monday. Accordingly they will take it forward from there.
What’s bewildering is that the film “Yaariyan 2” is produced under the banner of T-Series the cash rich film production house. The film is set for theatrical release on October 20 this year.
