Hardik Pandya to lead India, Squad for West Indies Series announced Kohli Rohit excluded

News comes to the fore that Hardik Pandya is likely to lead Team India in the T20 series against West Indies, while the selectors continue to test young players for the upcoming World Cup. This means that Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will not be part of the squad, as they have not played a T201 match since the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Shubman Gill is touted to open the innings with either Ishan Kishan or Yashasvi Jaiswal. Yashasvi, had an impressive IPL season, and is likely to earn his maiden T20I call-up. In the middle order, Suryakumar Yadav and Rahul Tripathi will continue to bat, whereas Jitesh Sharma, who replaced Sanju Samson in the 2023 T20I squad, is expected to retain his spot. Rinku Singh, known for his finishing skills, is also likely to be included in the squad.

In the all-rounder category, Ravindra Jadeja may be rested, leaving Washington Sundar as the sole spin-bowling all-rounder. The pace attack is expected to see a few changes, with the inclusion of Mohit Sharma and Tushar Deshpande based on their performances in the IPL. Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, and Yuzvendra Chahal will lead the spin attack.

It is learnt that the focus for Kohli and Rohit will be on the 2023 ODI World Cup, as they are not part of the T20I series against West Indies. The selectors have considered to reward IPL performers while dropping those who struggled in the league.
