IMD predicts heavy rains for today and next 2 days in Mumbai Yellow alert issued
The South West Monsoon since its arrival in the Financial hub on Sunday India’s financial capital Mumbai has been very active and it has been a wet day till today.
The IMD has forecast heavy rains in Mumbai today and for next two days. Yellow alert has been issued.
In the last 24 hours the city and suburbs have received heavy showers, resulting in water logged roads and disruption to traffic movement as well as public.
Low-lying areas in Dadar, Matunga, Sion, Chembur and Sion are heavily affected. Public have been alerted not to venture into areas of Juhu Beach, Worli Seaface and the Gateway of India due to rough sea and heavy tidal waves.
The IMD has predicted “moderate to heavy” showers in the city and suburbs with a possibility of occasional intense rain spells in the next 24 hours.
With heavy rainfall on Monday and Tuesday, the Andheri subway was closed for vehicular movements after waterlogging and the traffic was diverted towards the SV road.
As per Mumbai’s Colaba observatory, the city recorded 86 mm of rainfall in the 24 hours ending at 8.30 am on Sunday while the Santacruz weather station recorded 176.1 mm of rainfall in the same period.
IMD has issued Yellow alert Orange alert for Mumbai as heavy rain continues to lashes Maharashtra.
According to the IMD official, the southwest monsoon has been speedily progressing and covering more and more areas.
