Ronnie Screwvala Filmmaker joins the panel of Shark Tank India Season 3
On the latest episode of Shark Tank India 3, the sharks were left perplexed on finding similarities between the pitcher and Shah Rukh Khan’s character in Swades. Ronnie Screwvala, who has joined the panel this season, recalled how he produced the film which was touted as ‘ahead of its time.’
The startup Without by Anish is revolutionising recycling by creating sunglasses and other products from 100% recycled plastic. The Pune based innovative brand was the first worldwide to make sunglasses from chip packets. The founder explained that even though he had a high-paying job abroad, he felt something was missing. He quit his job in New York and came back to India to make a change and use his privilege in a better way.
Anupam Mittal said, “Why does he feel he is watching the extended version of Swades?” He also said that Ronnie Screwala produced the film. Ronnie added, “At the time when it was released it was called ‘before its time.’ Now he thinks its time has come.
The founder pitched his products, seeking Rs 75 lakhs in exchange for 1% equity.
While Aman Gupta proposed
Rs 30 lakhs for 1% equity and Rs 45 lakhs as debt with a 10% interest rate over two years, Ronnie Screwvala offered
Rs 75 lakhs for three percent equity and Peyush Bansal joined Ronnie’s deal.
The founder decided to go with Ronnie and Peyush’s offer.
The latest season features six new sharks and the makers announced the same and wrote on X, that in this new season, the stakes are higher, with 12 SHARKS in the TANK! Introducing Ritesh Agarwal, Varun Dua, Deepinder Goyal, Azhar Iqubal, Radhika Gupta, and Ronnie Screwvala as the 6 new Sharks of Shark Tank India Season 3.”
