Dr Jitendra Awhad, Minister for Housing said,  “MHADA has decided to give 5% reservation in all housing schemes of #MHADA to person with disabilities This will be applicable to all future schemes in MHADA,

“The principle of reasonable accommodation captures the positive obligation of the State and Private Parties to provide additional support to persons with disabilities to facilitate their full and effective participation in society,” Justice Chandrachud in a recent Judgement said.

Justice Chandrachud said, is a constant reminder of the chasm between law and reality. Right to Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act of 2016..

Commander Shrirang Bijur of NGO AWMH takes care of Mentally Handicapped said, ” He welcomes the move, But also reminded that State should  notify the rules,so they can avail similar benefits in allotment, livelihood and poverty alleviation schemes. Maharashtra was few states that did not incorporate the Right to Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act of 2016″. He is happy that it is ultimately done.

Mrs Sangeeta Rajendra, Founder of Adharwad, NGO for physically Handicapped said, ” We welcome this move but the implementation should be simplified and rules and methods notified.” She also said that it is being very difficult for NGOs to sincerely run organisations, the Govt should even have some facilities for institutions that support Disabled
