SC gives Ex-Cop Pradeep Sharma interim relief- need not surrender
In a new development, the Supreme Court on Monday admitted a statutory appeal filed by former encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma against the Bombay High Court’s order reversing his acquittal in the 2006 Lakhan Bhaiya encounter case.
Sharma was acquitted by the trial court, but the High Court reversed the order and sentenced him to 3 years imprisonment.
The court also granted interim relief to Sharma by exempting him from surrendering in terms of the High Court’s order.
