Amidst the National Film Awards ceremony in Delhi on Tuesday, Sharmila Tagore took a moment to focus on Mithun Chakraborty to celebrate his recent Dadasaheb Phalke award.

Sharmila voiced her admiration for Mithun following his Dadasaheb Phalke Award-winning speech, sharing a heartfelt moment where she embraced him. She went on to remark that he truly “made the show,” showcasing the impact of his words amidst the ceremony.

Sharmila, Bollywood’s most admired and respected, heaped praises on Mithun Chakraborty for his exemplary speech at the National Film Awards. She admired how well he expressed himself amidst the event and shared a touching moment where he inspired her with his genuine words reflecting his life experiences. She emphasized that his contribution truly enhanced the ceremony.

In his acceptance speech at the National Film Awards, Chakraborty reflected on the hurdles he faced early in his career in the Hindi film industry. He candidly shared how he was ridiculed for his skin tone and faced discouragement from those around him, even being told to leave the industry. This moment highlighted his resilience and determination to succeed despite the challenges he encountered.

Despite facing challenges, the 74-year-old actor remained determined and found success in dancing. Mithun Chakraborty, known as the star of Disco Dancer, shared that audiences eventually overlooked his skin color and embraced him as the sexy,dusky Bengali babu.” His journey reflects his resilience and talent in the industry.

At the 70th National Film Awards, Sharmila Tagore proudly supported her film Gulmohar, where she portrayed a matriarch. The film was a big winner, taking home three awards, including Best Hindi Feature Film and Best Dialogues. Additionally, Manoj Bajpayee received a Special Mention award for his performance in Gulmohar, directed by Rahul V Chittella .

Mithun Chakraborty embarked on his film career with the 1976 movie Mrigayaa, the Mrinal Sen’s directorial which eventually won for him his first National Award. Over the years, he has emerged as a prominent figure in Bollywood, appearing in notable films such as Golmaal 3, O My God, Housefull 2, The Tashkent Files, Khiladi 786, and The Kashmir Files. His versatility and talent have allowed him to shine in various genres, making him a beloved actor in the Indian film industry.
