The station’s strategic design, allowing seamless integration with the elevated Metro Line 1 connecting Ghatkopar and Versova, has significantly boosted its popularity among daily commuters.
As per data from the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL), Marol Naka recorded a staggering 45,000 commuters between November 1 and 13, surpassing all other stations. Santacruz ranked second with 32,091 riders, while the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) station followed closely with 27,749 passengers during the same period.
Spanning 11.4 kilometers, this phase connects Aarey to BKC via 10 underground stations. The next section is scheduled to open next year.
This new line offers a remarkable reduction in travel time, with the Aarey-BKC journey now taking just 30 minutes, less than half the time required during peak hours on the congested Western Express Highway. Trains operate every 6.5 minutes during weekday rush hours, with 96 daily trips running between 6:30 AM and 10:30 PM. Weekend services start slightly later at 8:30 AM.
Ticket prices
With ticket prices ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50, the metro provides an affordable and efficient alternative to road transport. The growing ridership underscores the line’s critical role in transforming Mumbai’s urban transit landscape, offering a glimpse of the city’s future mobility.
