India’s Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, on Saturday 1 February presented the General Budget for the financial year 2025-26 in Parliament.
This time around, a lot of importance has been given to sports in the budget and Rs 1 thousand has also been allocated for the Khelo India scheme. At the same time, people paying tax have got a lot of exemption in the budget and people earning up to Rs 12 lakh annually have been exempted from tax.
However, the tax exemption given in the budget will not be applicable to the players sold for IPL 2025. The budget has given a big shock to the players. Today we will tell you how the general budget has given a shock to the Indian players sold in the IPL.
IPL 2025 Mega Auction
If one remembers the mega auction for IPL 2025, the base price of every player was kept at least Rs 30 lakh. This clearly means that the minimum price of every player sold for IPL 2025 will be Rs 30 lakh
In such a situation, any Indian player who will play in IPL 2025 with a salary of Rs 30 lakh will have to pay 30 percent tax on his earnings.
In the budget, the Finance Minister clarified that every player earning more than Rs 24 lakh annually will have to pay at least 30 percent tax.
*Rishabh Pant, who was the most expensive player in the mega auction of IPL 2025. Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for Rs 27 crore. In such a situation, 30 percent of his salary i.e. Rs 8.10 crore will go as tax.
*Shreyas Iyer, who was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore and became the second most expensive player in the mega auction, will have to pay Rs 8.025 lakh as tax.
*KL Rahul, who was bought by Delhi Capitals for Rs 14 crore and the star cricketer will have to pay Rs 4.2 crore
*Yuzvendra Chahal to pay taxes
Yuzvendra Chahal, who was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 18 crore and the star spinner will have to pay Rs 5.4 crore
