Asha Bhosle recently shared rare insights into her bond with her legendary sister, late Lata Mangeshkar, as to why they both wore always “white”outside their home.
Notably, the legendary sisters Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar have long been revered as two of India’s greatest playback singers. Their bond as siblings and their competitive spirit as artists have been widely discussed over the years.
While their professional rivalry was apparent in the music industry, their relationship at home was deeply personal and affectionate.
Recently, Asha Bhosle shared some rare insights into her dynamic with her elder sister and also revealed why they both preferred wearing white sarees during their prime years.
Speaking on Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol’s podcast Couple of Things, Asha Bhosle reminisced on t.he unspoken yet profound bond she shared with Lata Mangeshkar.
Notwithstanding their individual musical journeys, their personal interactions had a stark contrast inside and outside their home. Asha recalled, “Didi (Lata Mangeshkar) and she used to wear white sarees all the time.
They felt that white suited their complexion better. If they wore other colors they would look darker.
Later, she started wearing pink sarees, and Lata would give her a side-eye, but Asha rrŕřslowly began adding colors with pink.”
