Bollywood seems to be engaged in a silent war. Three of its biggest stars Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, Kartik Aaryan are racing to make Bollywood’s first full-fledged zombie action film.
Each of them are working on a separate project in the genre and it’s turning out to be an unexpected competition. It’s anyone’s guess who will win?

Apoarently, Hrithik seems to be ahead in the game. He has acquired the rights of
I Am Legend for ₹12 crore and is considering director Nikhil Bhat to helm the project.

Ranveer is also eyeing the post-apocalyptic genre. Through his upcoming production house he is making a slate of films including a zombie action film and a mythological film with Uri director Aditya Dhar. But is his project just an idea for now?

Kartik Aaryan, acknowledged for his hit films, has approached T-Series’ Bhushan Kumar to back a big budget zombie film.
He has a good box office record and mass appeal. But can he do genre that Bollywood has rarely attempted?

Unlike Hollywood where films like World War Z and I Am Legend have set the benchmarks, Bollywood hasn’t made a full-fledged zombie action film.

The closest attempt was the horror-comedy Go Goa Gone but a serious high budget zombie thriller is uncharted territory.
The challenge is convincing storytelling, top notch VFX and a good director. Without these the genre will fizzle out before it even takes off.

Hrithik has concrete plans but might get delayed. Ranveer’s project is under wraps—will he be late?
Kartik has commercial appeal and a good producer but can he make zombies thrilling for Indian audience?
Adding another twist all three actors are managed by the same talent agency Collective Artists Network. Is this shared agency fuelling the competition or just a coincidence?

As of now none of the projects have locked their shoot schedules. Hrithik is busy with War 2, Ranveer is shooting for Dhurandhar and Kartik is committed to Anurag Basu’s romantic drama.

It’s unclear as of now who will win. Will any of these films actually make it to the big screen or will Bollywood’s first zombie action film remain an undead dream?
