When Amitabh desisted from working with Shatrughan Sinha

In a old interview Shatrughan Sinha had quoted that both he and Amitabh were thick of friends. But later something went wrong between the twosome.

Shatrughan Sinha recalled how their friendship slowly faded away as Bachchan’s superstardom took off. Casting politics too in Bollywood came into play. From rejecting roles that later went to Amitabh, to being sidelined by producers, Shatrughan laid it all out — and even claimed that Amitabh never wanted to work with him anymore. Both were biggest stars in their era.

At first, Amitabh’s films too never did well. Then, luck and tide favoured him. He began to rise and became a star and then a superstar. Sinha was doing well in his own way. There are certain things that people are not aware of. Amitabh’s role in [Ramesh Sippy’s] Sholay was first offered to Shatrughan Sinha But he was emerging as the lead in those days and never wanted to play such a role.
