CM Devendra Fadnavis orders for detaining
MNS workers afore language row protest rally
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis got detained MNS workers ahead of the language row.
Reportedly, the Raj Thackeray-led
MNS posted a video of the detention on social media. Security has been across the Mira Bhayander area in response to the rally stirred by the traders in Maharashtra over the assault of a food stall owner for not speaking Marathi.
Later CM Devendra Fadnavis slammed the pro-Marathi rally by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) in Mumbai scheduled at 10 am today, saying that such kind of experimentation would not work in the state.
Even as being detained, several MNS workers questioned why traders were allowed to protest against the ‘slapgate’ incident, but their counter-protest was prohibited.
A publication reported that as per many whoever lives in Maharashtra must learn Marathi and threatened that those who don’t will face the consequences.
Speaking to a News agency, he said that several Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers detained amidst the Mira-Bhayandar Morcha.
As per Police official “adequate arrangements have been made here. I appeal to the public to support the police.
There is no permission for any rally at this location, so please do not come here to participate. We have advised the organisers to hold their rally or protest through the appropriate route. Gathering here is not appropriate considering the law and order situation. As of 9 AM, 45 people were detained, and preventive detention is in progress.
On Monday, police issued an order barring Jadhav, who heads the MNS’s Thane and Palghar units, from entering the Mira Bhayander area, reported PTI. He was detained from his Thane residence at around 9.30 am as per a Thane police control room officer.
The controversy stems from an incident on July 1, when a food stall owner in Bhayander was slapped by individuals believed to be MNS activists for not speaking in Marathi. A viral video of the incident shows several attackers wearing scarves bearing the MNS insignia.
