She aims to boost grassroots outreach.
The actress-politician amid expressing her gratitude, said she was “absolutely elated and very, very happy” about the appointment, and thanked senior party leaders for reposing their trust in her.
Speaking to the media today, Khushbu said her immediate priority would be to strengthen booth-level presence across constituencies, with a special focus on South Chennai, which is now overseen by four vice-presidents. They have to reach out to the people and the public, the voters, as much as they can probably door-to-door campaigning and meeting voters in person to speak to them about the goodness of the Prime Minister and the BJP, which has done so much for the country and how we can definitely elevate the lifestyle and lives of voters in Tamil Nadu.”
On the BJP’s alliance with the AIADMK, as per Khushbu the parties have always maintained cordial ties.
While clarifying that she cannot comment on alliance decisions without authorisation from the party, Khushbu made a direct appeal to actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay, with whom she shares a longstanding personal rapport. Adding that there is a very simple message to Vijay. Knowing him, I always treated him like my younger brother. See, your idea is to defeat DMK, and when you want to defeat DMK, I think we all need to come together. You know the wrongdoings, the kind of government failure of DMK in Tamil Nadu, and you have been so vehemently speaking against them and attacking them. So she thinks it would be a very wise decision if TVK joins hands with the BJP and AIADMK.”
The party named 14 state Vice-Presidents, besides Khushbu Sundar- Sasikala Pushpa,
M Chakravarthy,
V P Duraisamy, Karu Nagarajan,
P Kanagasabapathi and RC Paul Kanagaraj. Kesava Vinayakan has been appointed General Secretary (Organisation) of BJP Tamil Nadu. Vice-President Narayanan Thirupathy is appointed as spokesperson.
She extended her appreciation to PM Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national general secretary B L Santosh, and Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagendran. Her heartfelt thanks to the Prime Minister, the Home Minister,
B L Santoshji, and of course her state president Nainar Nagendran for finding her worthy enough to be the vice-president of the state for a party like BJP.
She also credited party in-charges for Tamil Nadu, Sudhakar Reddy and Arvind Menon, for being “very, very instrumental in pushing it forward and making sure that I work for the party well.”
Earlier Khushbu had served as a member of the National Commission for Women but later resigned. In 2021, she contested the Assembly elections from the Thousand Lights constituency but lost.
