At veteran filmmaker Hansal Mehta’s directorial film “Gandhi” premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, Oscar awardee Music Composer AR Rahman shared selfie with Harry Potter’s Draco Malfoy.
Reportedly, Harry Potter fame star Tom Felton is set to make his Bollywood debut in Hansal Mehta’s ‘Gandhi’.
“Gandhi” marks a significant moment for Indian storytelling on a global platform.
The series also boasts music by AR Rahman, who made his presence at the TIFF and met Felton amidst the event. ,Taking to his Instagram he wrote Felton is a major part of the Gandhi series.
The photo, which included the text “With Draco”, shows Felton smiling and pointing at Rahman as the music maestro captures the moment with a cheerful grin.
‘Gandhi’ has already scripted history by turning out to be the first-ever Indian series to be showcased at TIFF. The first two episodes were screened for an international audience, garnering early buzz for its ambitious storytelling.
Featuring Pratik Gandhi in the titular role of Mahatma Gandhi, the series is backed by Sameer Nair’s Applause Entertainment. It also features Bhamini Oza as Kasturba Gandhi and Tom Felton as Josiah Oldfield, a lesser-known but significant figure in Gandhi’s early life.
The historical drama is based on acclaimed historian Ramachandra Guha’s seminal works, ‘Gandhi Before India’ and ‘Gandhi: The Years That Changed the World’. The first season charts Gandhi’s formative years, beginning as a curious teenager in colonial India, moving on to a shy law student in London, and finally following him as a young barrister to South Africa, where he spent over two decades shaping his philosophy and activism.
Meanwhile, Felton returns to the world of ‘Harry Potter’, reprising his role as Draco Malfoy in the upcoming Broadway adaptation of ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’. His run begins on November 11 for a limited 19-week engagement, making him the first original cast member from the film series to appear in the stage version.
