Born as Lalitha Rani in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, she was destined for stardom. Her performance at a school event caught the attention of a Telugu director, and the rest is history.

From Sargam to Prakash Mehra directorial “Sharaabi” with Amitabh Bachchan and Tohfa, she gave quite a few hits. In her filmi career she has shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan, Jeetendra, and Rajesh Khanna, among others.

Jaya Prada has done over 300 movies across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, and Bengali.

In 1994, Jaya Prada embraced politics,. 1994, joined politics as a member of the Telugu Desam Party.

Jaya Prada’s personal life, too, often made headlines. Way back in 1987, she entered into marital bliss with filmmaker Shrikant Nahata, who was already married and had three children.The wedding triggered controversy as Shrikant Nahata was not legally separated from Chandra Nahata.
