Agastya Nanda, grandson of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan is all set for his next film, Ikkis, with renewed determination and focus. He regretted for the debacle of his debut film “The Archies” at the box-office. Infact he had pinned hopes for a favourable response to the film.
Right now, he is looking afore, ready to prove himself with a project that he says has shaped him both personally and professionally.Thanking producer Dinesh Vijan and director Sriram Raghavan for believing in him and backing him at a crucial moment in his journey, Agastya says, “he was 21 when he started this film and now he is 25. He didn’t know he would meet such great people to collaborate with. He would call this “Ikkis” his foundation and schooling and is thankful to Dinu Sir and Sriram Sir for having reposed faith in him showed faith in him. He feels extremely grateful that he supported him at a time when his first film didn’t really work. He didn’t really get the best reviews. This, film, he says Sanskrit mincing words, his last chance to prove his mettle in the acting arena. “Ikkis” for him is not merely a film, but, it’s very personal.”
Adding to the significance of Ikkis, Agastya also got the rare opportunity to share screen space with the ‘He-man’late Dharmendra in the war film, an experience he describes as deeply special and unforgettable. Though their time together on set was limited, the impact Dharmendra had on him was profound, both as a
co-actor and as a person he had long admired.
Reportedly, Amitabh Bachchan turned emotional after watching Grandson Agastya Nanda In Ikkis Trailer
Agastya went on to add that because the story is such, they aren’t really physically together. There are a lot of interconnected moments. They had a day’s work together. There is one particular scene in the film which they shared. He was nervous. Dharmendra is so warm-hearted and welcoming. He talks to like a friend—relaxed, so youthful and energetic. Unfortunately, he isn’t alive to see his performance. He is so endearing. Agastya’s favourite part of the film is Dharam ji.
Sharing a memory, Agastya, present at the intimate trailer dropping of the film, added, “When he signed the film, it was his birthday. The best way for introduction was to go take his blessings. So it was, Sriram sir, Dinu sir who went to meet him. Agastya was nervous and didn’t know what to say to him. It was the first time he met him. He gave him his blessings. Then didn’t get to shoot with him. He was with Jaideep sir. That one day, he really treasured. It is going to be his favourite memory of all time. Amitabh Bachan worked with him for so many years. He had great things to say and such fun stories to share. One such story being… Prateeksha, his earlier home where he used to stay, is where Agastya stays now. One day, a fan entered. His study was on the top floor. Granddad was going down to the kitchen. This random person had entered and was walking up to his study. So his granddad was like, ‘Who are you? Why are you here? What are you doing in my house?’ He was like, ‘he am there to meet Dharam ji,’ and was like, ‘He is not here, he is three-four houses down. You have come to the wrong house.’” His story had the people in splits.
