It’s been hardly two weeks following a booming successful IPL 2026 Auction, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) gear up for another positive development, this time in the ownership ranks. For those unversed, Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan owns 55 percent of KKR although the remaining 45 percent is amid actress Juhi Chawla and her husband, businessman Jay Mehta’s Mehta Group.
Latest reports from the KKR camp, reveal that Shah Rukh is set to acquire a substantial amount of shares from Mehta who recently had chose to put them up for sale. Initially, there were speculations over the addition of a new
co-owner to the KKR camp. However, sources close to the franchise confirms that it will indeed be Shah Rukh Khan himself.
Notedly, Juhi Chawla’s shares will continue to be with her but the total percentage of this is negligible in comparison to the cumulative shares of Shah Rukh Khan and Mehta. Also, the Mehta Group will not be letting go for the complete shares and will keep a few of them as a symbol of support for their superstar friend.
Further details are awaited on when the takeover process will be done. Once the formalities gets wrapped up, reportedly, Shah Rukh will have around 90 percent shares in KKR, effectively giving him absolute ownership of the three-time IPL champions. This development is in the aftermath of an immensely successful financial year for Shah Rukh.
The 60-year-old didn’t have any film releases this year but brand endorsements and other investment jumps saw his net worth soar by a considerable percentage this year. Notably, Shah Rukh emerged as the first Indian actor to join the billionaire club and his net worth is reported to be around $1.40 billion at the moment. This data has been obtained from the Hurun India Rich List 2025 published in October.
