Ajit Pawar Deputy Chief Minister, Maharashtra passes away in a plane crash in Pune district’s Baramati on Wednesday amid emergency landing. It’s not only shocking but a big view to Maharashtra.

He was a dominant and force in Indian cooperative and state politics. Fondly called “Dada,” the 66-year old Ajit Pawar was born onto a politically influential family—the son of Anantrao Pawar and nephew of veteran leader Sharad Pawar—crafted a career tenacious in hard work and decisive governance. He embarked on.political journe in 1982 when he entered public service through the cooperative sector. He won his first MLA election in 1995 and retained his Baramati constituency without interruption in every subsequent election: 1999, 2004, 2009, 2014, and 2019.
His tenure as Deputy Chief Minister spanned six terms across four different chief ministries—under Prithviraj Chavan, Devendra Fadnavis, Uddhav Thackeray, and Eknath Shinde. This rare consistency underscored his role as a stabilizing presence in Maharashtra’s volatile political landscape. As a key decision-maker in finance, energy, and water resources, Pawar played a pivotal role in shaping the state’s infrastructure and economic policies.
Beyond state-level influence, Pawar maintained strong roots in his home district. He had represented the Baramati Lok Sabha seat since 1991 and wielded considerable authority over the region’s cooperative networks, earning him deep respect among rural communities and urban stakeholders alike.
In recent years, Pawar navigated complex political realignments. In July 2024, he led a major faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) into the state government coalition, ultimately securing the party’s official symbol and name—a move that reshaped regional alliances.
Even in his final days, Pawar remained active in civic affairs. He had recently formed a local electoral alliance for the upcoming municipal elections in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, demonstrating his commitment to grassroots democracy.
