Inarguably, Aruna Irani 1946 Mumbai born is an exceptional actress and producer in Hindi cinema. She is admired for her remarkable versatility and long-lasting career. Over the years, she has appeared in more than 500 films across Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, and Gujarati cinema.

She embarked on her acting career at the tender age of nine with the classic film Ganga Jamuna relessed in 1961 where she received her first major opportunity with the support of legendary actor Dilip Kumar. Starting with small roles, she gradually proved her talent and went on to make a strong impact in popular films such as Caravan (1971), Bombay to Goa (1972), and Beta (1992). Her expressive dance performances and unforgettable screen presence — especially in iconic songs like “Chadti Jawani Meri Chaal Mastani” — earned her immense popularity and a devoted fan following.

Known for her powerful performances in supporting and negative roles, Aruna Irani won two Filmfare Awards: one for Pet Pyar Aur Paap (1984) and another for Beta (1992). She also achieved a remarkable record of ten nominations in the Best Supporting Actress category. In recognition of her outstanding contribution to Indian cinema, she was honoured with the prestigious Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012.

Her talent extended beyond films to television as well, where she acted in and produced successful shows such as Desh Mein Nikla Hoga Chand. In her personal life, Aruna Irani married director Kuku Kohli. Although she later expressed some regret about not having children, her dedication to her craft, exceptional versatility, and decades-long success have firmly secured her a permanent place in the history of Indian entertainment.
