“very touched” and surprised when Indian musicians played Brazilian songs, including “Asa Branca,” amidst lunch with Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi.
Lula noted the emotional impact of hearing Brazilian melodies, mentioning they played “Asa Branca,” an iconic Brazilian folk song.
Reciprocity: Lula highlighted that this musical gesture felt like a gift, recalling that when PM Modi visited Brazil, they had researched his favorite songs to surprise him.
The music was seen as a way of bridging the geographical distance between India and Brazil.
The incident took place during President Lula’s visit to India in February 2026, strengthening bilateral ties.
