Shreya Ghoshal opened up on feeling a ‘misfit’ for a song in film “Jism”
Renowned singer Shreya Ghoshal says she felt didn’t fit the role of Bipasha Basu at all in the film “Jism” but it was a very bold decision by internationally renowned music composer MM Keeravani as he wanted exactly that voice. Shreya doesn’t think she tried to be sexual , because that’s not natural for her.
Shreya Ghoshal recalled how she had to wait for the right opportunity despite winning National Award for her debut in Devdas.
In a recent media interaction the acclaimed playback singer Shreya Ghoshal opened up that regardless a dream debut with five songs in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2002 blockbuster “Devdas” and honoured with a National Award, she had to wait a long time for her next significant opportunity.
She further shared a lull phase that notwithstanding the immense success of Devdas and her initial National Award, the work did not flow in immediately afterward.
Rather than actively calling music directors every day for work, she waited for the “right opportunity,” trusting that if projects did not come at the right time, they wouldn’t “create magic”.
Her next major song was “Jaadu Hai Nasha Hai” from Jism, and she admitted to feeling like a “misfit” for the song at the time, as she was only 18 and found it difficult to deliver the required sensuality.
Reflecting on that time, she noted that the waiting period helped her understand the unpredictability of the music industry and strengthened her resolve.
Shreya Ghoshal has since gone on to have a career spanning over two decades, emerging as one of India’s most celebrated playback singers in the Indian Film Industry.
