Locals allege the film misused their neighborhood’s name and stories, demanding funds for local infrastructure development and improved roads.
Implying compensation for perceived damage to the locality’s reputation or misrepresentation.
They claim royalty suggesting they deserve a percentage of profits for the use of their setting/stories.
Some local comments suggest the, “India waale denge” (India will pay) idea, treating it as a local tax on the film’s success in their area.
The demand is directed at filmmaker Aditya Dhar.
The video of their demand went viral via Comparison TV, with some users calling it a, “demand for development funds”.
The residents argue the film is based on their local narratives and that they deserve a portion of the earnings.
