A modern land port (Integrated Check Post) is to come up at Banbasa (Champawat district) border to boost connectivity.
PM Modi and his Nepalese counterpal laid the foundation stone. The ₹500 crore project (1st phase) covers 84 acres, aimed at enhancing bilateral trade, security, and passenger movement to streamline bilateral trade, cargo transport, and people-to-people ties.
Notedly, the project has cleared environmental and land transfer hurdles, with construction overseen by the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI).
