Hollywood’s Greek God Hrithik Roshan has defended the makers of Ramayana following intense online criticism regarding the teaser’s visual effects (VFX), urging audiences to appreciate the artistic vision rather than strictly judging realism.
In a detailed note shared on social media, Hrithik responded to viewers who labeled the VFX as “video game-like”.
He argued that the makers may have chosen a specific “storybook” or stylized approach rather than photorealism, which should be judged by whether it serves the story’s emotional intent.
The actor suggested that audiences ask if the visuals are “right for the story” instead just questioning if they look real.
He praised the makers for their ambition and bravery in attempting unprecedented large-scale projects, referring to them as “heroes” for risking significant financial resources.
Reportedly the teaser for the Nitesh Tiwari-directorial film, featuring Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, sparked a polarized response.
Some viewers criticized specific sequences, such as Jatayu’s battle with Ravana, finding them underwhelming despite the film’s reported large budget.
Regardless the backlash, many fans praised Kapoor’s look and the film’s overall scale.
The film, which also features Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, is scheduled for a two-part release, with the first part expected around Diwali 2026.
