It’s learned from reports that Ravana will not be the only villain in the upcoming cinematic adaptation of the Nitesh Tiwari directorial “Ramayana”
The film is expected to feature multiple characters representing different antagonistic aspects of the story:
Meghnad (Indrajit): Reported to be played by actor Raghav Juyal, he is the eldest son of Ravana and a formidable warrior.
*Kumbhakarna: Ravana’s massive brother, played by Bobby Deol.
*Surpanakha: Ravana’s sister, played by Rakul Preet Singh.
*Kaikeyi: Played by Lara Dutta, her manipulation by her maid Manthara is a crucial conflict point.
*Tataka: A demoness and grandmother of Ravana, who was killed by Ram early in the epic.
Director Nitesh Tiwari emphasized that Ravana’s character will not be one-dimensional. The film will explore Ravana not just as a demon king, but also as a great warrior, accomplished musician, scholar, and dedicated Shiva devotee.
Tiwari noted that despite his good qualities, Ravana was ultimately governed by vengeance and ego, leading to his downfall.
