The song “Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar” from
Dev Anand’s “Hum Dono” released in 1961 was rendered by Asha Bhosle alongside Mohammed Rafi, not Lata Mangeshkar. Asha ji sang the track because at that time around, Lata had professional differences with the music director, Jaidev, and refused to sing for him. The iconic duet features Asha Bhosle and Mohammad Rafi.
Notwithstanding the initial dispute, the song remains one of the most popular romantic duets in Hindi cinema.
However, after persuasion and resolution of the issue, Lata Mangeshkar eventually worked again with Jaidev and sang other songs for the film. The song later became one of the most iconic romantic tracks in Hindi cinema, sung by Mohammed Rafi and Asha Bhosle.
