Madan Mohla’s directorial and produced “Dus Numbri” released in
1976 was a blockbuster produced and directed by Madan Mohla.
Acknowledged as “Bharat Kumar” for his patriotic films like Upkar and Purab Aur Paschim, Manoj Kumar transitioned into a “grey-shaded” role in this film, playing a stylish, underworld ‘Don’.
The title “Dus Numbri” refers to a person whose record is maintained in the No. 10 register prescribed under the Police Act, 1861, designating them as a habitual or notorious criminal.
It was the top hit of 1976, grossing over 9 crore rupees against a 1.5 crore budget and considered one of the biggest successes of the 1970s.
The film featured Manoj Kumar, Hema Malini, and Pran, with incredible music by Laxmikant-Pyarelal featuring the song “Yeh Duniya Ek Numbri Toh Main Dus Numbri”.
