As Gangster clocks 20 years, composer Pritam expressed intense emotional turmoil over the loss of singers KK and Zubeen Garg, key voices of the 2006 film’s hit soundtrack.
Pritam shared that the nostalgia of creating “Tu Hi Meri Shab Hai” and “Ya Ali” is now overshadowed by disbelief at both artists’ passing, making live performances deeply heartbreaking.
Pritam described losing both singers as “broken down” moments, often struggling to perform their songs live.
He fondly recalled his early days, including frequenting Zubeen Garg’s home in Andheri and working closely with KK, whom he considered his “jingle-time buddy”.
The 2006 album, which marked his first big collaboration with Anurag Basu, remains a significant milestone in his career.
