Batwara 1947″ team is embarking on a 12-city promotional tour across India afore their August 14, 2026 theatrical release. The
much-anticipated historical drama, produced by Aamir Khan Productions, reunites actor Sunny Deol with director Rajkumar Santoshi.
The massive partition-era saga
formerly titled “Lahore 1947 is backed by Aamir Khan Productions. The film’s ambitious scale has been heavily compared to the trio’s past blockbuster successes. Alongside Sunny Deol, the project boasts an ensemble cast featuring Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, and a musical score crafted by A. R. Rahman.
Originally slated for an earlier release date, the film was delayed to ensure the post-production and VFX matched the scale of the epic story. In June 2026, the team announced they were officially changing the title from “Lahore 1947” to “Batwara 1947” alongside releasing a highly impactful teaser. It is now set to arrive in cinemas just in time for Independence Day on August 14. Film is an Amir Khan production
