Actress Huma Qureshi has come down heavily over the online trolling directed at her “Toxic” co-star Kiara Advani, labeling the behavior of social media trolls as “sick” and “disgusting”.The controversy erupte after the release of “Tabaahi,” the first track from the upcoming action-thriller “Toxic” A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. Although the song gained traction for the on-screen chemistry between lead actors Yash and Kiara Advani, a section of social media users targeted Kiara with sexist criticism over her intimate scenes. Trolls aggressively questioned her professional choices, bringing up her personal life as a married woman and mother.
In stark contrast, her male co-star Yash, who is also married, faced virtually no backlash for the exact same scenes.Speaking on Yuvaa’s talk show Be A Man, Yaar!,
Huma called out the blatant double standards embedded within the entertainment industry and internet culture. Responding to the severe backlash, Huma stated, “It’s sick. It’s disgusting, absolutely. But she thinks women in this film, the actresses and the directors will have the last laugh.”Qureshi emphasized that the team has chosen to let their cinematic work answer the critics rather than engaging with internet negativity. “There’s no point in trying to defend something at all because you can’t change people’s mindset with words,” Qureshi noted, adding, “she would just let the film do the talking.” Her brother, actor Saqib Saleem, echoed her sentiments during the discussion, pointing out that while the real world is inherently kind, the digital space remains deeply hostile.
Geetu Mohandas directorial film “Toxic” features a high-profile ensemble cast including Yash, Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 26, 2026.
